Aberdeen Housing Authority is seeking a full-time high level Accounting Specialist to support our Finance Manager in performing professional accounting work of routine difficulty in preparing and processing financial records, general ledgers, reports, and budgets in accordance with HUD guidelines and requirements. Schedule/Hours: Monday-Thursday 8:00am-5:00pm & Friday 8:00am-2:30pm.

What you will do:
Posting general ledger entries into systems
Maintaining check registers and reconciling bank statements
Maintaining rent rolls
Preparation of credit card statement by sorting invoices, coding, entering, posting into the system, and filing
Preparation of accounts payable ensuring that there is proper documentation and authorization by sorting invoices for each rental property, coding and entering into the system and filing
Maintaining asset and inventory reports
Maintain Tenants Accounts Receivables; including collecting rents, sending correspondence to tenants, sending delinquent accounts to collections or small claims and maintaining bad debt lists
Create and close repayment agreement files as needed
Process Special claims
Prepare maintenance billings and reports as needed
Prepare Housing Assistance Program requisitions (TRACS) by necessary deadlines
Prepare financial reports for funding sources, board of directors, or administration as assigned, ensuring all submissions meet appropriate due dates and deadlines
Close out files after tenant moves out and process final move-out charges
Break down closed tenant files for storage
Assist auditors with annual audit
Manage budget
Open and close back window and assist tenants as needed
Attend appropriate seminars, conferences and/or job related training
Perform other related work as assigned by management

What you will need to be successful:
Accounting Degree preferred and/or a minimum of 2 years working experience is beneficial not required
Must have experience to demonstrate responsibility for full set of accounting records
Computer experience required: Microsoft Office, Excel, etc. Software for housing area beneficial with spreadsheet experience
