The Director of Operations supervises and oversees the operations of hotels in a specified geographical region. The job duties include quality control, financial performance, sales and marketing, community and guest relations, safety, security, cleanliness, employee relations and property maintenance.


This position supervises a number of small but relatively complex businesses. The Director of Operations has a wide range of management responsibilities and in certain situations, must become involved in the day to day supervision of full-time and part-time personnel and the performance of duties, which may include general manager responsibilities and functioning as a front desk clerk/guest service representative, lead room attendant, maintenance person and laundry person.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Plans/Sets performance goals for each hotel in the region.
2. Provides financial performance data for each hotel in the region.
3. Assists the general manager with the implementation of safety procedures.
4. Assists the general manager with the implementation of security procedures.
5. Assists in the professional development of the general manager and employees.
6. Adheres to company policies and procedures to provide high quality accommodations to guests.
7. Provides leadership and professionalism.
8. Executes and enforces performance objectives.
9. Makes individual visits to each hotel at least once each month; maintains accurate records of each visit with particular attention to items requiring follow-up attention.
10. Acts as the liaison with the owners of the hotel.

Job Requirements


· Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office.


· Excellent written and spoken communication skills.


· Must be able to understand bookkeeping and arithmetic.


· Ability to develop plans and forecasts for the hotels and the region.


· Able to perform all general manager, front desk, housekeeping and laundry job functions.


· Able to use office machines (computer, telephone, calculator etc.)


· Excellent multi-task, prioritization, time management and organization skills.


· Must be reliable, professional, consistent and serious about the tasks at hand.


· Excellent attention to detail.


· Able to develop attainable goals and objectives.


Education and/or Experience


· High School Diploma or GED required. Three years of experience in hotel management.


Preferred but not Required Qualifications


· Two-years of college/technical school. CHA designation. One year of multi-unit supervision in hospitality industry.


Licenses or Certificates


· Valid driver’s license and insurability for driving.


Supervisory Responsibility


This position will directly supervise general managers and indirectly supervise hotel staff.


Work Environment


This position will spend 80 to 90% of the time traveling. 10 to 20% office setting.


Travel


This position requires overnight travel.


Safety Requirements


Must be aware and conform to all safety requirements when in the facility, operating motor vehicles, or in the field performing duties for the company.
