Scale Operator/Grain Operations

Agtegra Cooperative is seeking to fill a Scale Operator/Grain Operations position in Mellette, SD.
Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position will be working closely with customers and other employees to weigh incoming trucks and assisting with the grain elevator operations and ensuring all trucks are properly loaded and unloaded. They will also work with their supervisor and grain accounting to ensure that all accounting is accurate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:*


Responsible for weighing trucks as they arrive at location.
Perform critical operations to keep the facility running: Loading/Unloading trucks and railcars, other grain handling including, filling/reclaiming of ground piles, transferring, blending etc.
Obtains grain samples using necessary equipment and grades grain accordingly.
Communicates the grain and grade to the grain attendants on each load. Communicates and works closely with the Location Manager to ensure day-to-day grain activities run efficiently.
Provides a high level of customer service by displaying courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable interactions with our patrons.
Communicates daily with grain supervisor or attendants to understand all grain strategies and to get daily instruction that will help complete the daily tasks.
Partners with Grain Accounting for accurate and efficient accounting of grain. Contacts customers regularly informing them of dumping hours, potential dumping delays, and market opportunities.
Assists customers with marketing possibilities, ultimately working towards purchasing that producer's grain.
Stays informed of current company programs and other information necessary to handle grain accurately and efficiently.
Provides daily current market prices to customers and other pertinent market information.
Keeps grain room, scale area, scale, and grading equipment clean and in optimum working condition.
Operate rolling stock such as Bobcat, Loader, Tractors, ect.
Operates safely within Agtegra policies, procedures, and governmental regulations.

Education and Experience Required:*


High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
